“Everyone is doing the best they can with what they know at that time”.
This helps me to come to a point of understanding and compassion.
When I encounter people acting in a way that surprises me, I strive to ponder the above to bring me back to a place of acceptance.
This doesn’t mean I excuse any negative actions or behaviour.
Instead I ask questions such as how can I help that person with new information, share an outlook, share a different way. How can I listen?
This softens my perspective, aids my understanding and makes for a less stressful moment.
I hope this can help you too.
This is an ongoing experiment with much daily practice.
Do you have a practice like this?
